Frequently Asked Questions

The AK900ST has a 0.81 to 0.89 throw ratio with 1.1x motorized zoom, so the lens sits 0.81 to 0.89 times the width of the projected image away from the screen, and the zoom fine tunes the image size from the remote without moving the projector. Our team is happy to confirm the exact position for your room before you mount it.

Using its built in camera, the AK900ST detects your impact screen's shape, size and curves and fits the image to it. BenQ states Auto Screen Fit 2.0 works on flat and curved screens with the projector lens within 157.5 inches (4 m) of the screen. On a curved screen, the curve depth must be less than 30% of the screen width and no more than 47.2 inches (1.2 m), and the process may take slightly longer than on a flat screen.

After it runs, BenQ's guide has you fine tune with Geometry on a curved screen or Corner Fit on a flat screen.

Yes. BenQ states the AK900ST has upgraded geometry settings for manually correcting the image to a curved screen, with a grid of up to 8 x 16 control points for precision warping. You can change the number of control points at any time during setup and keep the settings you already made. The menu path is Menu > Installation > Geometry.

BenQ Golf Scene Memory saves up to five complete display profiles, including picture mode, screen fill, zoom, focus, geometry, audio and input source, so switching from golf simulation to a movie or gaming night takes a single button. BenQ's menu path to save, apply or rename a scene is Menu > Installation > Scene Memory.

It uses the AK900ST's built in camera to detect the ambient light on the screen and automatically recalibrates golf course colors for the best picture in darkness, daylight or anywhere in between. BenQ's menu calls it Ambient Visual Enhancer, and you turn it on at Menu > Picture > Image Enhancement > Ambient Visual Enhancer > On.

BenQ's AI Settings sit at Menu > Picture > AI Settings. An AI Master Switch turns all of them on or off at once, and with it on you can switch each of these on or off on its own:

  • AI PQ Enhancer: identifies distinct zones in each frame and delivers vivid color, especially the colors of a sunny course.
  • AI Contrast Enhancer: upgrades your launch monitor's SDR content to HDR quality visuals with 500K contrast zones.
  • AI Resolution Enhancer: 4K upscaling that reconstructs fine details like individual blades of grass.
  • AI Noise Reduction: removes artifacts and noise while keeping detail, to cut down shimmering in golf scenes.

BenQ lists Game, HDR Game and Sports among the AK900ST's picture modes. Its rated input lag is 18.1ms at 4K 60Hz, 18.6ms at 1080p 60Hz, 9.7ms at 1080p 120Hz and 4.8ms at 1080p 240Hz, and HDMI 1 and HDMI 2 are HDMI 2.1 inputs with ALLM.

Yes. BenQ's Picture in Picture with Network Display shows your phone or tablet in a small window over your main source, such as the simulator PC on HDMI. The projector connects to your network by Wi-Fi or an RJ45 cable, and BenQ lists the AK900ST as compatible with iOS mirroring, Google Cast and Miracast. BenQ lists the EZC-5201BS wireless USB dongle as an optional accessory.

No. The AK900ST uses a laser light source BenQ rates at up to 20,000 hours in Normal mode and 30,000 hours in ECO mode, with an IP5X rated sealed engine and no filters or bulbs to replace.

This product is covered by BenQ America's limited warranty for digital projectors: 3 years from the purchase date by the original retail purchaser, parts and labor. Please reach out to our team and we will help you with any warranty claim.
